Service Department Manager

The Service Manager is responsible for daily operations, revenue targets, safety, and sales in their region. They oversee all staff and processes while ensuring a fast response. They are also responsible for growing sales through prospecting and client relationship management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define safety standards by holding regular meetings, reviewing safety documents daily, conducting site visits, and communicating openly with the team.
  • Assign work to crews and ensure they have the information required to complete the job.
  • Support quote requests and recommendations in a timely manner to maximize opportunities.
  • Follow up on quotes with clients to build relationships and increase regional revenue.
  • Approve worked hours, verify completed work, and review reports for quality and opportunities.
  • Meet weekly with the team to report and collaborate on roofing operations, including billing, growth strategy, clients, staffing, etc.
  • Prepare monthly billing forecasts.
  • Recommend equipment or vehicle purchases based on the growth strategy.
  • Develop quarterly and annual business plans to support company growth.
  • Discuss planning, approvals, and issues with clients.
  • Communicate daily with service technicians about issues, project scheduling, vehicles, uniforms, etc.
  • Help establish the budget and manage review and expense costs.
  • Build strong client relationships through meetings, events, and regular communication.

Desired Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the roofing industry;
  • Experience in the commercial roofing industry;
  • 1 to 3 years of experience within a service department;
  • Experience in construction project management and the ability to read plans and specifications;
  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • Experience managing employees (asset);
  • Experience as a roofer with a CCQ competency card (asset);
  • Positive leadership and the ability to mobilize and engage teams;
