Sheet metal worker

The sheet metal worker is responsible for installing and repairing sheet metal components of roofing systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. They must ensure the quality of the work, compliance with safety standards, and customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, measure, cut, bend, and assemble metal parts in the workshop or on-site.
  • Install sheet metal systems (flashings, parapets, edgings, valleys, downspouts, gutters, drip edges, caps, drains, etc.) in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Ensure watertight joints and high-quality workmanship.
  • Conduct inspections and maintenance work to identify issues and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to clients during site visits.
  • Comply with health and safety standards and internal procedures, and wear required protective equipment.

Requirements

  • ASP Construction card (with WHMIS 2015)
  • Apprentice or journeyman sheet metal worker competency card
  • Valid driver’s licence (Class 5)
  • Compliance with occupational health and safety standards

You must possess

  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional roofing sheet metal work (an asset).
  • Knowledge of various sheet metal components and of fabrication and repair techniques.
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team.
